In a partial modification to the notification dated 20.08.2001, the Department of Economics and Statistics has informed that in pursuance of the provisions of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 and in compliance with the instructions issued by the Office of the Registrar General of India (ORGI) Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, regarding strengthening coordination for effective implementation of the Civil Registration System (CRS), the state Government has constituted the Inter Departmental Coordination Committee (IDCC) on registration of Births and Deaths with the following members and Terms of Reference with immediate effect.

Terms of Reference (ToR) of SLCC
Improvement of Coverage and Timeliness: To monitor, review, and suggest measures to achieve 100% registration of births and deaths within the prescribed 21-day limit.
Inter-Departmental Coordination: To facilitate smooth coordination among the Health Department, Local Bodies (Municipalities/Village Councils), Police, Revenue, and Education Departments for effective implementation of the Civil Registration System.
Capacity Building and Training: To organize regular training and workshops for CRS functionaries - including Registrars, Sub-Registrars, and Notifiers (including ASHAs, Anganwadi Workers, ANMs, etc.) to strengthen their understanding of roles and responsibilities.
IEC Activities (Awareness Generation): To create awareness regarding the importance of timely registration of births and deaths for legal, administrative, and educational purposes.
Digitization Monitoring: To facilitate the transition to online registration, ensuring that CRS functionaries have access to computers, internet connectivity, and the online portal provided by the Office of the Registrar General of India (ORGI).
Reporting Mechanism: To streamline the flow of information from medical institutions (hospitals/nursing homes) to the Registrar of Births and Deaths and ensure timely submission of reports to the Chief Registrar of the State.
Review of Vital Statistics: To analyze the annual and monthly reports of vital events, identifying areas with low registration rates.
Addressing Bottlenecks: To resolve operational, logistical, and legal bottlenecks in the registration process.
The Committee shall meet at least once a year to review progress and achievement of registration works in the state and also deliberate and find out ways and means to overcome various problems and difficulties faced by the registration functionaries at various levels including the Registrars of Births & Deaths at the village level. The IDCC among other things will formulate policy matters on registration scheme and suggest necessary remedial measures to bring about improvement over various functions of registration officials.

Day three of the 1st Intra-District U-23 Football Tournament witnessed four exciting matches played among the participating teams at the District Sports Council Ground, Zunheboto. The tournament is being organised by the District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) in collaboration with the Zunheboto District Football Association (ZDFA).
In the morning session, Satakha faced Atoizu, where Satakha secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Atoizu. In the second match of the day, Pughoboto defeated Suruhuto by 3 goals, putting up a strong performance.
A total of four matches were played on the third day of the tournament. In the evening session, Satakha continued their impressive form by defeating Aghunato with 3 goals. The final match of the day resulted in a 2-2 draw between Suruhuto and Zunheboto.
The tournament, currently underway at the District Sports Council Ground in Zunheboto, has been drawing enthusiastic participation from young footballers across the district. The event aims to promote sportsmanship, discover emerging football talent, and encourage greater youth engagement in football within the district.

Deputy Commissioner Mon, Wennyei Konyak has informed that the 42 Assam Rifles will be conducting firing and explosive practice at the Unit Firing Range, Tactical Headquarters Mon from 16th March to 31st March 2026 from 07:00 AM to 07:00 PM.
During the said period, loud sound of firing and explosion may be heard in and around Mon Town and adjoining areas. In this regard, the public is advised not to panic, as it is part of the routine training for the Assam Rifles.
Further, residents are also advised to avoid movement in the vicinity of the firing range/camp during the above mentioned period and to ensure the safety of Children and livestock.

Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa has notified that in view of upcoming Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic game to be held from 7th - 18th April 2026 at Kohima, Chumoukedima and Dimapur, a player selection screening test of athletes for Tuensang District will be held on 14th March 2026 at Parade Ground and Loyem Memorial Ground Tuensang from 9:00 Am onwards.
Individual Events will consist of: 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500, 5000 and 10000 Meter Race
- long jump, High jump, Triple jump, shot Put, Discus Throw, Javelin Throw and Cross Country Race. While the Team Events 4×100 Relay, 4×400 Relay, 4×400 Mixed Relay and Cross Country Race.
For the cross country race, the team shall consist of a minimum of 4 participants and maximum of 6 participants. Each athlete shall be allowed to participate in a maximum of 2 individual events and 2 relay events only and restrictions shall not apply to the cross country event.
It informed all interested athletes to report at the venue on the given date and time for the selection test.

Nand Kishore Yadav was sworn in as the 23rd Governor of Nagaland in a ceremony held at Dr. Imkongliba Ao Hall, Lok Bhavan, Kohima on 13th March 2026.
The oath of office was administered by the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, Justice Ashutosh Kumar, in the presence of the Chief Minister of Nagaland, Dr. Neiphiu Rio. The ceremony was attended by members of the State Cabinet, legislators, senior government officials, representatives of various organizations, and invited dignitaries.
Following the swearing-in ceremony, the Governor interacted with the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues.
Later, the Governor addressed the people of the State, conveying his commitment to work for the welfare and progress of Nagaland, and expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome extended to him. Nand Kishore Yadav also expressed his sincere gratitude to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for the trust and confidence reposed on him with the important constitutional responsibility.
Nand Kishore Yadav said Nagaland occupies a special place in the rich and diverse fabric of great nation, India. The State is known for its vibrant cultural heritage, strong community values, and the warmth and resilience of its people. The traditions and spirit of the Naga people are a source of pride not only for the State but for the entire nation.
India today is undergoing a period of remarkable transformation under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The country has made notable progress in economic development, modern infrastructure, advancements in science, technology and space, social empowerment, and sporting excellence. These achievements have strengthened India’s standing on the global stage and reinforced its emergence as a rising global power.
The Governor said that the North Eastern region has also witnessed renewed focus and investment in recent years, particularly in connectivity, infrastructure and economic development. These initiatives are expanding opportunities and integrating the region more closely with the national growth story while preserving its unique identity and traditions.
Nagaland too has been steadily progressing across various sectors such as infrastructure, education, agriculture, tourism, digital connectivity and entrepreneurship. These developments are creating new possibilities for economic growth and improving the quality of life for the people, he added.
He said he was deeply encouraged by the energy and talent of the youth of Nagaland, who are excelling in diverse fields including education, sports, arts, entrepreneurship and public service. Their achievements reflect the creativity, determination and potential of the younger generation.
At the same time, he remarked that creating meaningful opportunities for educated youth remains an important priority. It is encouraging to see many young people exploring avenues in entrepreneurship, agriculture-based enterprises, tourism and the digital economy. With the right skills, innovation and institutional support, these sectors can generate employment and encourage the youth to become creators of opportunities.
The Governor also mentioned that the aspirations of the people for lasting peace, stability and development remain paramount. Peace and harmony provide the foundation for sustainable progress, and with collective effort and mutual understanding, Nagaland will continue to move forward on the path of prosperity.
Lastly he affirm that as Governor of the state, he will strive to uphold the Constitution of India and work in close cooperation with the State Government and all sections of society to promote good governance, inclusive development for the welfare of the people to strengthen peace, encourage development and preserve the unique cultural heritage of Nagaland.

A farewell programme was held in honour of UPA-Lokayukta, Special Secretary (Rtd), Khanrinla T. Koza at Nagaland Lokayukta office on 13th March 2026.
In her farewell address, she acknowledged God for his mercy and grace, enabling her to complete the 3 years term as UPA Lokayukta, Nagaland. She also expressed her gratitude to the Chief Minister, Dr. Niephiu Rio for giving her the opportunity to serve in this office.
Koza said the dynamics of working with such young officers full of drive, so willing to work hard, so focussed on career progression has been such a pleasant work experience for her. Their firm commitment to uphold the integrity of the office has encouraged her heart and given hope that the organisation has the potential to shine and be an example, she noted.
She also urged all the officers and staff to continue and uphold the principles and objectives of the Nagaland Lokayukta, to check corruption and ensure good governance, adding that, the organisation must continue to effectively address public complaints and grievances pertaining to corruption in public office.
Koza encouraged all to continue to work with integrity, diligence, serving to give and finding purpose in their work regardless of whether validation or acknowledgement is given.
She urged them to be intentional in integrating their Christian values in their secular workplace setting by demonstrating and fostering mutual love and respect which will go a long way in creating a good work environment.
She also mentioned that, the Nagaland Lokayukta office was established in 2019 and that, there is still much work to be done to bring to its proper shape and entity and appealed everyone to give good assistance and support to the organisation.
She also expressed her gratitude for the love, support and cooperation they have extended during her tenure.
Earlier, words of appreciation to the outgoing officer were also delivered by the Director & DIGP, Oponlumi Humtsoe, Secretary, Arikumba and Lokayukta, Nino Iralu.

NPWD MULTI-LEVEL PARKING FACILITY INAUGURATES AT KOHIMA

The Multi-Level Parking facility at the NPWD Office, Kohima was inaugurated on 13th March 2026 by the Personal Secretary to the Minister for PWD (Housing), R. Rithrong, on behalf of the Minister P. Bashangmongba Chang.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister, Rithrong stated that the completion of the parking complex marks an important step in addressing the long-standing issue of limited parking space in the office premises. With the increasing number of vehicles, the facility will provide a more organized and convenient parking arrangement for staff and visitors.
The Minister conveyed his appreciation to the construction firm, engineers and technical team for their dedication and timely completion of the project. He also acknowledged the vision of the Government of Nagaland under the leadership of Chief Minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio in strengthening infrastructure and improving public service delivery in the state.
The Minister congratulated the NPWD, particularly the Housing Department, for successfully completing the project and expressed hope that such initiatives would continue to improve workplace facilities and administrative efficiency.
A technical report on the project was presented by Executive Engineer, PWD (Housing), Central Division, Kohima, Er. Nungsang Jamir. He highlighted the construction details and significance of the parking structure, and informed the total estimated cost of the building at 440.68 lakh.
Engineer-in-Chief, NPWD, Er. K. Imnajungba Jamir, in his short speech expressed his sincere appreciation to the State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister, the initiative of PWD (Housing) Minister, Engineer incharge and the contractors who have contributed their skills and dedication to make the project successful. He also emphasized the importance of infrastructure development to ease traffic congestion and improve urban management in the capital.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Chief Engineer, PWD (Housing), Nagaland, Er. K. Nikato Assumi. The invocation and dedicatory prayer was pronounced by M. Chuba Lam, Associate Pastor (Youth), Khiamniungan Baptist Church, Kohima.
The Special Guest also unveiled the plaque marking the official inauguration of the multi-level parking facility. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the chairperson.
