The 16th Annual Conference of Village Development Board Association, Pughoboto, RD Block Ghathashi was held on 30th January at Town Hall Pughoboto. The Chief Guest. Y. Vikheho, MLA 13 AC Pughoboto, credited the success of the VDB Model to A.M. Gokhale who was the Secretary in the Department of Rural Development during the governance of the regional party UDF under the leadership of Vizol Angami in the 1970’s.

Swu also said that the elected VDB secretaries from 24 villages under Pughoboto Sub-Division have a very important role to play for the development of the rural masses in the region and asked them to set long term, mid-term as well as long term targets to uplift the economic condition of their respective village; He advised and urged the VDBs to start vegetable farming as short term goals, animal husbandry as mid-term goals and to take up various trees and other plantation as long term goals as it provided that Pughoboto Sub-Division has close proximity to the state capital and shares border with 4 different districts. He also reminded that the role of the VDB secretary is not only to disburse the funds to the beneficiary but they are to assist, supervise and assure that the funds are utilized judiciously for the development of the Sub-Division.

Inavi Chishi Project Director & DPC DRDA Zunheboto and Guest of Honour of the occasion spoke about the various programmes that the department is implementing and therefore asked the VDB Secretaries of the 24 villages to avail the facilities and to utilize them judiciously for the benefit of the rural population.

The Presidential address and report of the Association was presented by Vikato M. Swu, President VDB Association Pughoboto RD Block Ghathashi. He also highlighted the major development achieved during his tenure of construction of the VDB Conference Hall which is amongst the best assets among the 8 (eight) Blocks under DRDA which was completed and duly inaugurated by the MLA 13 AC Pughoboto in 2017.

Welcome speech was delivered by  Bosukha Swu, VP of VDBAP and vote of thanks was proposed by Viyito Wotsa Gs VDBAP.
