2145 SCHOOL TEACHERS TRAINING ON E-CONTENT AND DELIVERY SYSTEM UNDERWAY

Faculty Development Programme (FDP) for Teachers of Schools including higher secondary schools is being conducted by National Institute of Electronic and Information Technology (NIELIT), Kohima in collaboration with the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE). The first batch of training started from 23rd September 2020 and will continue till 17th October 2020 in which Primary teachers, Graduate teachers, Assistant teachers &Post-graduate teachers) from all over Nagaland will be participating. The main objective of the training is to facilitate teachers in adopting e-learning or on-line classes for students, in the prevalent situation. The training will also include e-learning content preparation, effective use of online teaching tools and learning management system for e-delivery systems.

Asano Sekhose, Chairman NBSE, while inaugurating the training on 23rd September 2020 highlighted how the emerging trends of virtual learning systems support teachers in imparting knowledge in classroom. She encouraged all the teachers to actively participate in the training, learn and make best use of the opportunity to upgrade their skills with technology usage. She reiterated that the training will become a stepping stone for them to become more knowledgeable in providing blended learning to the students. She acknowledged the support and cooperation extended by NIELIT in this noble venture. During his address, L. Lanuwabang, Director NIELIT Kohima thanked the NBSE Chairman and officials for their interest and well timed activity. He observed the initiative would go a long way in bringing necessary changes in the education system of the State, as e-learning/online classes are emerging to be the new normal in this difficult pandemic period. Though not intended to replace the conventional methods and learning in classrooms, he emphasized that the aim is to create an augmented learning environment where technology is put to effective use to deliver a combined range of teaching and learning techniques, through which students can benefit immensely. He felt that all stakeholders including the teachers, technology providers to explore the full potential of Information and Communication Technology.

A total of 2145 teachers from different schools across the State are enrolled for the training on e-content development and delivery system. The training is to be conducted in 11(eleven) different batches. The three days programme per batch is being conducted on blended mode viz: Instructor-led live classes and self-paced online learning using NIELIT Kohima Learning Management System (LMS). The program covers varied topics such as creation of e-content, uploading/updating contents, e-assignment & e-assessment, conducting on-line practical lab for experiments, scheduling and conducting on-line exams, monitoring of student’s performance, communication/live interaction with students through different on-line techniques etc. This initiative of NBSE and NIELIT Kohima will definitely provide an opportunity for the educators to develop a successful working knowledge and understanding of successful online teaching strategies and bring Nagaland at par with the rest of the country as far as innovative methods of teaching with Technology aids. For teachers who have registered and are not included in the 11 batches will be covered in the next subsequent batches.
