The 4th Inter- Departmental Sports Meet 2026, organised by the Officers' club, Kiphire, is being held at the 14th NAP (IR) stadium and ground on 9th and will culminate on 10th October 2026.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Commissioner Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer, NCS said that the sports meet was not merely a sporting event but also an opportunity for Offices and staff from different departments to know one another better and strengthen inter-Departmental relationship for improved coordination. He also urged the participants to maintain decorum and discipline during the event at the venue.
Special Invitee, Commandant, 30 Assam Rifles, Rajiv Sharma expressed his honour and happiness at being among the youth of Kiphire town. Highlighting the importance of healthy competition, he stated that sports help build character, discipline and leadership. He further remarked that sports are not only about winning, but also about accepting defeat gracefully, which reflects a person's character.
Encouraging the participants to compete in the true spirit of sportsmanship, Sharma urged them to play with grace and use the occasion to foster stronger relationships and cooperation among the various departments.
The three day event features a range of sporting activities for men and women, including a marathon held on October 8, followed by departmental and group events on October 9 and 10.
The events include badminton and carrom on departmental basis, while group competitions feature tug of war, cricket (super six), volleyball and penalty shootout. Fun games such as pole climbing, balloon bursting, spoon race and sack race along with common games including lucky draw and "catch me if you can" are also part of the meet.
The sports meet aims to promote teamwork, mutual understanding and camaraderie among departmental employees through sports and healthy competition.
