WOKHA
Wokha District Administration, department of Social Welfare, SANKALP, HUB for Empowerment of women & Sakhi- One Stop Centre under Mission Shakti in convergence with department of Health and Family Welfare, NSRLM, WDLSA & Lotha Eloe Hoho organised the International Women’s Day celebration on 8th March 2025 at Tiyi hall, Wokha, with Advisor to Chief Minister, Nagaland Dr. Chumben Murry as the special guest.
Addressing during the celebration, Dr. Chumben Murry termed Women’s Day as a celebration of women’s achievements. He emphasized the importance of observing the day, given the disparities in society. He stressed the need to focus on key issues such as healthcare, education, economic empowerment, safety, and violence against women, leadership and women political representation. He also highlighted the importance of discussing and advocating for women’s education and employment opportunities.
Dwelling on the inheritance rights of women, Murry observed that women were often excluded from community land wealth, and opined that such issues needs to be openly discussed and addressed.
He noted that Christianity and modern lifestyles have brought significant changes to society, leading to a demand for gender parity and equal participation of men and women. He applauded the success of women in business, agriculture and pointed out that women have captured the market as well. Lastly, he encouraged women to be assertive and to strive for greater achievements.
Deputy Commissioner, Wokha, Vineet Kumar (IAS) in his speech said, "as we celebrate this day let us all remind ourselves and acknowledge the participations and contributions and crucial role played by women in shaping the society in various capacities".
Short speeches were also delivered by Thungbeni Ngullie, President Lotha Eloe Hoho and Cheliam Khiamniungan, NJS Judicial Magistrate First Class & Secretary Wokha District Legal Services Authority.
The programme was chaired by Renthunglo Kikon, Centre Administrator, SAKHI-OSC, welcome address was proposed by C. James Ezung, District Programme Officer, Social Welfare Department, while ADC, Wokha Renbomo Ezung delivered the vote of Thanks. During the programme 22 best performing Anganwadi & Asha workers were felicitated from various blocks under Wokha district under BBBP-Mission Shakti.

SANKALP-Distrct Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti, Department of Social Welfare, Phek in collaboration with District Administration of Phek, celebrated the International Women's Day at Town Council, Phek on 8th March 2025 on account of ten years completion of Beti Bachao Bati Padhao (BBBP) with the theme "Accelerate Action"
Superintendent of Police, Phek Dr. Pritpal Kaur, IPS, who graced the occasion as guest speaker, greeted the gathering and urged upon the Women folks to know their rights and laws for Women and Children. Speaking on gender equality she said that men and women are biologically different, however, both genders are equal in terms of opportunities and respect, which means both genders should respect each other equally, she said. She also emphasized on women and girl child education. Appreciating the hard work of the Chakeshang women, she encouraged them to help and support each other for excellence in the days to come.
Methseu, Legal Case worker, Sakhi-OSC Phek, delivered on legal Rights for Safety and Security of Women and Girls.
Message on International Women's Day was delivered by Dr. Tsotalu Nakro, Assistant Professor, Government College, Phek.
Invocation prayer and welcome note of the program were said by Nyanbeni Odyuo, Women Leader of Lotha Baptist Church, Phek and Kevineinuo Rio, DPO & DNO Mission Shakti, Phek.
Vileno K. Thisa, District Mission Coordinator, DHEW, Phek chaired the program.

AGHUNATO
The office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aghunato in collaboration with the District Hub for Empowerment of Women Zunheboto celebrated International Women’s Day at ADC office, Aghunato, Zunheboto on 8th March 2025, with Councillor, Aghunato Town Council, Elison and Linobo (Sportswomen) as the main speakers.
Underscoring the importance of women empowerment, Elison stressed on financial independence as a tool to liberate women from the bondage of poverty and lack. Taking examples from her own life she encouraged the womenfolk to focus on their mental health and intellectual capabilities in order to succeed in life, adding that they should take full advantage of the constitutional provisions guaranteed to women.
Vinobo who is an accomplished badminton player from Aghunato, narrated various ways in which sports has provided her numerous opportunities for growth. She stated that, she took up badminton as a fulltime commitment three years ago and in the course of time she has been able to bring laurels to the Sub-Division and district as a whole.
EAC, Aghunato, Kathyinla highlighted on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) schemes and key issues faced by the women and girls in Nagaland. She also briefed on the various initiatives taken up by the Government to promote their welfare and called upon all stakeholders to commit to bettering the lives of women and girls through advocacy, awareness and partnership.
As part of the occasion, certificates and cash awards were presented to meritorious students of Aghunato. During the celebration a session on menstrual hygiene was also highlighted after which sanitary napkins were distributed to the women and girls present at the programme.
Head DB, Aghunato Vikuto welcomed the gathering, and Tokhei, LDA ADC Aghunato proposed the vote of thanks.

YINGLI COLLEGE LONGLENG
The Women Forum of Yingli College Longleng in Collaboration with World Vision Longleng in global chorus celebrated the International Women’s day on 8th March 2025, under the theme ‘Accelerate Action’ at Yingli College Longleng.
Lipom N. Phom, graced the celebration as the Guest Speaker, where she talked about the Limitless potential of a woman and encouraged the students to be unbiased towards the gender, and respect both for the roles they play for the society. Citing incidents from her life she said that the uniqueness of one’s story is an inspiration to other. Project Officer World Vision Longleng, Lalremthang spoke on the aims and objectives of the World Vision. Vote of thanks was proposed by Assistant Professor, English Department, Mhasinuo Rio, and the programme was chaired by Assistant Professor, History Department, Mhayano A. Odyuo.
