The Sütsa Academy, a centre for teaching and learning Sümi Language was inaugurated at Mt. Olive College, Kohima on 26th March 2025.

Speaking at the programme, Chairman, Sümi Literature Board (SLB), Vihoshe Muru lauded the governing body and the entire fraternity of Mt. Olive College Kohima (MOCK) for taking such a bold and positive initiatives in establishing Sütsa Academy at Mt. Olive College Kohima. Muru said it is a red letter day for MOCK, where the Sütsa (Sümi Language) will grow to another level of excellence as the purpose of the Academy is to preserve and promote Sümi Language and its literature. Muru further encouraged the students to give keen interest in learning Sümi Language as it is our identity ( Sütsa no Sümi Jumichi).

Chairman, Board of Deacons, Sümi Baptist Church Kohima (SBCK), Lukheto Yeptho said that having Sütsa Academy at this crucial juncture in the college is a must needed not only for the student community but also for those who desires to learn Sümi language. He thanked the SLB for the consent given to college authority to run Sütsa Academy and expressed hope that the academy will bring excellence in the near future.

Earlier, while chairing the programme, Chairman and Managing Director (MOCK), K. Shiwoto Wotsa highlighted the aims and objectives of the newly established academy and informed the gathering that the Sütsa Academy is part and parcel of MOCK and will function under the guidance of Sümi Literature Board. He also said that the academy is not only for the Sümis but open to anyone who desires to learn Sümi language and its heritage.

The programme was attended by SLB members, Governing Body and staff of MOCK, Pastors (SBCK), Sütsa teachers and students.
