ATMA Botsa Block under Kohima district conducted training and field demonstration on scientific cultivation practices on intercropping of Maize and French bean at Gariphe Basa village on 1st April, 2022

The resource persons ATM Neitsizo Zumvu at the training emphasized on the technical and modern scientific system of farming. Factors as climatic conditions, soil type, management practices and cropping systems were imparted to them. Meticulous and accurate rate of single seeding per bed was instructed and in the later half of the progamme ATM Hainenle Tep shared on the cultivation practices of French bean. The various practices involved with it like the time of sowing, seed rate and method of sowing, weed management and harvesting of the crop and advised the farmers to maintain appropriate crop spacing so as to get optimum yield per unit area and also on the importance of the proper cultivation practices. Importance and benefits of intercroppinig were also discussed. With the active participation of farmers and the officials, a demonstration plot was set up.

Meanwhile, frontline demonstrations on cultivation practices of kharif crops were also organized at Gariphema Village on 12th April, 2022. In the programme the resource person Hainenle Tep spoke on the climatic requirement, soil type, raising of seedlings, transplanting, spacing and irrigation. Nursery beds for Brinjal and Tomato were raised with the participation of the farmers.

Altogether, 25 farmers attended the activities and were also distributed with maize, French bean, brinjal, tomato and chilli seeds.
