District Level Committee for New India @ 75 activities concluded the third phase of New India @75 awareness on HIV, TB, and Blood Donation with Northfield School Students on 1st March 2022 at North Field School Auditorium Kohima.
Speaking at the programme, District TB Officer Kohima, Dr. Akaba Jamir stated that TB was an infectious disease caused by mycobacterium tuberculosis mostly affecting the lung but could also affect other organs spreading through air, cough, spit and sneeze which could cause high health risks to the patients with HIV, Diabetes, Malnutrition, substance abuse. He informed that to eliminate TB by 2025 by Prime Minister of India has launched the programme under the theme “TB MUKH BHARAT ABHIYAAN”, various activities have been carried out such as “TB Hareega Desh Jeetaga Campaign” which was launched by the minister of Health and Family Welfare on 25th September 2019.
While interacting with the participants at the Programme, District Program Officer, DAPCU Sentimongla Tzudir said that any person can get tested for HIV which is free of cost in a government health setting at public health care facilities, integrated counseling and testing centers (ICTCs); at District hospital (NHAK), PHCs and CHCs in Kohima District; at family planning association of India Kohima Branch (PPP- FICTC). She also informed about accessing through NACO website, NSACS website and to download the NACO AIDS APP and Dial 1097 (Toll-Free) for more information on AIDS and HIV. She informed that after the completion of the awareness programme, there will be an online competition on the theme HIV, Blood Donation, and TB at School and College levels.
Chairman Blood Donors Association Kohima, Bendang Imsong encouraged the participants that any person from 18 years to 65 years of age could donate blood to save more lives and said that donors could be benefitted with lower the risk of heart attacks and strokes (blood flow better and fewer arterial blockages), lower cholesterol level, automatically warns of serious illness.
