Bhandari Town celebrated the 42nd Tokhü Emong, the premier festival of the Lotha tribe with the theme "Senjümta" (Reconciliation) at the public football ground, Bhandari on 6th November 2021.

Specail guest, Advisor, IT, Science and Technology & NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon, lauded the public of Bhandari for having managed the Covid-19 pandemic situation effectively and coming together to celebrate the festival with adherence to Covid-19 SOPs.

The special guest also pointed out that the public should encourage one another and cooperate with concerned departments, agencies and the government for systematic delivery of developmental projects and initiatives to the local areas. 

Deputy Commisioner, Wokha Orenthung Lotha, NCS exhorted the celebrants saying that Tokhü is a time to reflect and retrospect the achievements or failures of the past year as individuals and as a community and to redirect attention in a renewed manner for a fruitful year ahead.

He also called upon them to avail the Covid-19 vaccination being provided free of cost by the government for health benifits of all.

Joint Director, Agriculture, Jacob N.Yanthan, in his greeting note called upon the people to live up to the spirit of reconciliation in order to march forward as a progressive community.

M. Yanthan IAS Rtd, Y. Limomo Jami, NCS Rtd, Merithung Ovung, former Range Council chairman,  President Lotha Lower Rannge Public Organization, Convenor  Lotha  Lower Range Elders and Officers Forum, Rev. Ellis Odyuo and Rev. Fr. Matthew also took part in the programme.

Earlier, a memorial stone in commemoration of Bhandari administrative headquarter having completed fifty years in 2007, (1957-2007) was inaugurated by Mmhonlumo Kikon, which was donated by Administrative Officers of the Lotha Lower Range, past and present with co-initiation by the executive committee of DBs and GBs union, Bhandari sub division. Rev.R.P. Murry, former Finance secretary NBCC pronounced the dedicatory prayer.

Highlights of the programme included folk song and contemporary Lotha  songs presentations and football exhibition match between MLA11 and Tokhü organizers committee where MLA11 won by 3 goals with Mmhonlumo scoring the first goal against the opponent team.
