“Today, 7 samples has been tested positive for COVID-19. The total number of positive cases in the State now stands at 163. Out of this, the total active cases are 87, and 76 have recovered. As per the severity of symptoms, all the 87 active cases are asymptomatic cases.
Till date, a total of 5,945 samples have been tested. Results of 4,616 samples have been received and 1,329 samples are awaited.
A total of 6,774 persons are presently under Facility Quarantine, and 1,775 persons are under Home Quarantine.
We would like to inform that the infrastructure installation at the BSL-2 lab Dimapur is in the final stage of completion. Thereafter the verification and registration process with ICMR will start and the lab is expected to become functional soon.
Earnest efforts are also being made to augment the COVID-19 capacity in Dimapur by coming up with COVID Care Centre (CCC) for management of asymptomatic positive cases and to decongest the COVID-19 Hospitals. 1 CCC at SIHFW at Chumukedima to be managed by CIHSR will be functional in the next 2 days. Further, to augment the capacity of COVID-19 facilities, a 50 bedded COVID-19 Hospital has also been operationalised by the Assam Rifles at ARTC, Shokhuvi.
To supplement the medical manpower of Dimapur, 5 Medical Officers are being deployed out of the 27 doctors that were recruited recently. Further recruitment is in progress, and more manpower will be deputed as and when recruitment to newly created posts of Doctors & Nurses takes place. It may also be mentioned that private hospitals are also providing medical manpower in the management of various Quarantine Centres. Further, many Churches, NGOs and Volunteers are selflessly rendering non-medical tasks at various Quarantine Centres in Dimapur.
The District Hospital, Dimapur already has a TrueNat machine which can test 40 tests per day. 2 (two) more Quattro TrueNat Machines are being provided to Dimapur district in the next few days to further increase its capacity to test.
As regard the returnees who have exceeded their required period of stay in the Institutional Quarantine Centres in Dimapur, top priority is being accorded for testing and processing for their release.
A Special Train from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, boarded by the stranded people of Nagaland from the States of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh that departed on the 9th of June 2020 reached Dimapur this morning at around 9.15 am. with 944 persons.
We once again make a fervent appeal to the citizens and civil society organizations of the State to extend their fullest cooperation so that unitedly we overcome the challenges posed by COVID-19.
