In view of National Girl Child Day 2022, District Administration & Mahila Shakti Kendra-District Level Centre for Women Longleng conducted several activities during the celebration of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao -week long campaign starting from 21st -26th January 2022. The main aim of the campaign is to spread awareness on issues of inequalities that a girl faces, to empower girls and to enlighten about the rights of a girl child.

Opening ceremony was held at DC’s conference hall with the launching of Digital Campaign for BBBP & BBBP Challenge (video) to re-enroll girls for education. It was followed by social media campaign, celebration of girl child birth at District Hospital, distribution of safety kits to Asha & Aganwadi workers, celebration of national girl child cum award ceremony for best school monitoring committee & Best NGOs in recognition of their inputs in education, distribution of IEC material, poster & signature campaign, special program for girl students who could not pay their fees due to pandemic (no. of 12 girl students fees were sponsored by District Administration & DTF BBBP Longleng) and tournaments (chess, carrom & badminton) for girls. In badminton, the first position was bagged by Moimei & Theila Phom, in chess the first position was bagged by Yimshet Phom & in Carrom the first position was bagged by Moidan Phom. The winners were awarded with medals, cash prizes & certificates. A total of 38 girls participated in the tournament.
