The Chief Electoral Officer, Nagaland held a meeting with all political parties in the State at 2 pm today ie 1st October 2020 at Hotel Japfu, Kohima in view of the announcement of schedule of bye election by the ECI to fill up casual vacancy in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from 14 Southern Angami I (ST) AC and 60 Pungro Kiphire (ST) AC.

The CEO and his team of officials briefed the representatives of the political parties about the broad guidelines issued by ECI for conducting elections during COVID-19, the various provisions of Election Expenditure Monitoring, the enforcement of MCC, about EVMs/VVPATs, and several other pertinent issues connected with the conduct of the bye-elections. The various IT initiatives taken by the Commission was also highlighted in the meeting. The CEO also informed about the Special Summary Revision of Electoral rolls with reference to 01.01.2021 as the qualifying date.

The representatives of BJP, INC, NDPP, NPF, NPP, JD (U), RPI (A) were present in the meeting.
