Chief Secretary of Nagaland, J. Alam, IAS held an interactive session with the media regarding the prevailing situation caused by the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and the rapid surge of cases at State Level War Room, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima on 22nd June 2021. 

He said the War Room was reactivated with the Chief Secretary as the chairperson on 21st April 2021, mainly to ensure the unity of command and control in the fight against COVID-19 in the State. It is also to ensure sharing of all relevant information on real time basis so that prompt and effective actions are taken by the departments concerned. He also mentioned that various teams have also been formed where officers from key departments have been drawn to look after the State Level War Room in the areas of:

  1. Ensuring adequate availability of medical oxygen for both private and public in the State. 
  2. Ensuring availability of ICU beds, oxygen supported bed and COVID care centre beds. 
  3. Ensuring effective quarantine and home isolation. 
  4. Timely transportation of critical medical equipment. 
  5. Overseeing quality management for COVID cases in government hospitals. 
  6. Grievance redressal
  7. Community surveillance in both rural and peri- urban areas. 
  8. IEC through infographics and various social media. 

The Chief Secretary appealed to the citizens to take the vaccines without any hesitation and urged people to come forward and get tested without stigma. He also expressed gratitude to the faith based organisations, NGOs, Civil Society Organisations etc. for extending their cooperation and working hand in hand with the Government.

Alam also mentioned that the War Room has been continuously monitoring the progress of vaccination in the State in order to increase the coverage of all eligible persons to get vaccinated. The Nagaland COVID-19 information App developed by the WR is also available in Google Play and App store.
