While extending Tokhu Emong's greetings to the people of Lakhuti village, Chief Minister said that the village has produced a lot of leaders, officers, educationists, and many different eminent personalities and added that they are living in good harmony with the different denominations in the village.
He said Tokhu Emong signifies the hard labor and the sweat they have put in the harvest, and it was time to give thanks to the Almighty for all the blessings. He expressed happiness that the State has come up with a compilation of documents on how to keep the tradition, culture, and important festivals.
In this moment as you also do a special emphasis on respecting the elders, honoring them, taking good care and making them feel good about the rich tradition passed on from generation to generation. Back then people discussed and try to help each other support their families and the village exist harmoniously, that’s why the community was very strong, and the poorest of the poor should be uplifted to the benchmark so that starvation is avoided. He also stressed the principle of truthfulness, and simplicity which is their identity.
Rio said that because of its fertile and rich natural resources Wokha district is called as “Land Of Plenty”, but all these things are possible when education comes to you.
"For Naga political Issue or unresolved issues our people are thoroughly divided, be over ground or underground, into so many groups so many societies or organizations or individuals, clanism, tribalism, so we talk about Naga Issue for a solution but we still harbor ism in us so we all have to come to the level of Naga “ISM” than God may bless us and resolve Naga issue so that we will continue to live in harmony and co-exist in this blessed land of Nagaland," Rio said.
Rio said through this festival let us also spread the message for all the Nagas to come together and work to solve Naga political issue.
Advisor for Horticulture & Border Affairs, Mhathung Yanthan while extending a greeting on the occasion, thanked the Chief Minister of Nagaland Rio for gracing the festival and showing love and concern for the Lotha people, Yanthan said despite the many challenges faced over the past two to three years because of the pandemic, under his leadership reasonable achievements have been undertaken in the area, reminding the people some of the achievements taken up in the road sector.
He also said Tokhu Emong is a time to emulate the principles and the great values that their forefathers had passed down through generations and wished all the people that this festival brings peace, unity, and understanding.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Minister for Agriculture G. Kaito Aye, Metsubo Jamir Minister for Rural Development and Advisor for Law & Justice Dr.Chumben Murry, and a host of dignitaries and Party Officials.
