The district level awareness and sensitisation on Nagaland Education Project-The Lighthouse (NECTAR) was launched by the Department of School Education on 16th November at DC’s conference hall, Kiphire.
Deputy Project Director, NEP-(NECTAR), Avelu Ruho while highlighting the NEP-The Lighthouse aims and objectives, stated that the main focus is to enhance class room teaching and resources (NECTAR) with an aim to improve and enhance quality and learning outcomes of government schools in the state and through this initiative. The State government is committed to address the targeted problems within fixed project duration- to enhance the governance of schools across the state, to improve in teaching practices and to enhance of overall learning environment, she said. Ruho also said that community initiative will be of great help for the success of the project activities and can change the education sector, where she urged the gathering to give effort for successful implementation of the project. She also said that the project is funded by the World Bank for five years only.
The community ownership, investment and collective management was presented by PMU team and was followed by discussion. Opening message was delivered by Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, T. Wati Aier while the program was chaired by AEO, Tsipongla.
The meeting was attended from various departments, tribal hohos of Sangtam, Sema, Yimkhiung, Tikhir, all eleven ward representatives, representative from various government school teachers.
