A host of officials comprising of District Administration, Police, Medical and Rural Development led by the ADC Tamlu Y. Chingak Konyak and Addl. Superintendent of Police Atopu Sumi visited the interstate border village of Bura Namsang, Yonglok, Setap (Shutap) and Namhaching on 11thApril 2020 to take stock of the situation in the border areas of the district adjacent to Assam.

The team interacted with the village councils, duty personnel deployed at border check gates and IR patrol enforcing lockdown for complete sealing of Assam Nagaland border to contain and control the spread of COVID-19 in the state. Accordingly, thermal screening was also initiated at Setap check gates by the medical department. EAC Tamlu, EAC Sakshi and BDO Tamlu also accompanied the team.

They encouraged the villagers to maintain strict discipline on lockdown and ensure complete sealing of border crossing. They also distributed Masks, hand sanitizers, soaps, gloves, etc to the villagers.

Meanwhile, the State Bank of India (SBI) Longleng branch donated an inverter along with a battery to the District Hospital, Longleng. The DEF Longleng also provided vehicles, manpower and security towards the lone hospital of the district for transportation of beds and other medical equipments to the new makeshift hospital at GHSS, Longleng. The district hospital Longleng was reserved and converted to district COVID-19 hospital. All necessary arrangements was done at the new makeshift hospital and it will be dedicated tomorrow (14th April) for functional.

The Medical Superintendent of District Hospital, Longleng thanked the district administration, police, civil societies, SBI Longleng, DTF on COVID-19 and other government agencies and individuals who had contributed towards the district hospital and the medical department through various means to combat COVID-19.
