Free mask distribution and COVID-19 awareness campaign was organized by Zunheboto Area Public Organization (ZAPO), on 17th September 2020 at centre point Zunheboto to sensitize the general public of dos and don'ts about the ongoing pandemic, following all safety protocols. 

Speaking at the event as special guest, Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Peter Lichamo said that, we are now quite aware of the pandemic and are getting adapted to it, but, our adaptation could lead us to be complacent in many ways, which would be catastrophic. He reminded that the relaxation is being implemented seeing the current economic scenario and not because, the nature of the virus is easing or that we have a complete control over it. Let us all try to avoid or minimize the spread of the pandemic at our place by continuing to follow the basic precautions, he added. He also lauded the efforts undertaken by ZAPO in organizing the event besides undertaking other developmental activities, which is visible in the town. 

CMO Zunheboto, Dr. K Akaho Sema, speaking on COVID-19 preventive measures, briefly apprised the gathering on the details of the pandemic at the district and of the state. Now that the relaxation is being implemented, we should be more careful and our acts should be of a responsible citizen, to avoid, wide community spread of the virus, he appealed. 

The programme was chaired by vice president ZAPO, Kakugha S Rotokha and General Secretary ZAPO, Arikato Arkha as secretary. Keynote address was delivered by president ZAPO, Kikheto Muru and exhortation on behalf of Sumi hoho was delivered by gen/secy Sumi hoho, Nikheto Zhimo. 

The programme was attended by ZRSU as volunteers, Sumi hoho, Sumi Kukami hoho, Sumi Totimi hoho, Zunheboto town GBs Association and dignitaries including SP Zunheboto and officers from 32nd Assam rifles. 

The programme culminated with free mask distribution around the town.
