Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Kohima Shanavas C IAS have, in a notification, informed the general public that as per the Election Commission of India's directives, all the electors who have been issued EPICs shall produce their EPICs for their identification at the Polling Station.

Those electors who are not able to produce the Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) shall produce one of the following alternative photo identity documents for establishing their identity:

 

  1. Aadhaar Card:
  2. MNREGA Job Card:
  3. Passbook with photograph issued by Bank/Post Office;
  4. Health Insurance Smart Card issued under the scheme of the Ministry of Labour;
  5. Driving License;
  6. PAN Card;
  7. Smart Card issued by RGI under NPR;
  8. Indian Passport:
  9. Pension document with photograph
  10. Service identity Cards with Photographs issued to employees by Central/State Govt., PSUs/ Public Limited Companies ;
  11. Official identity Cards issued by MPs/MLAs/MLCs; and 
  12. Unique Disability ID (UDID) card, M/o Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.

 

The notice further stated that the Commission has decided to issue a 'Voter Information Slip' to the voters in place of a Photo Voter Slip. Voter information Slip will include information like Polling Station, Date, Time, etc., and will be distributed at least 5 days before the date of the poll to all enrolled electors by the District Election Officer. However, Voter Information Slip alone will not be allowed as proof of the identity of voters. Electors are required to carry EPIC or one of the 12 Alternative documents as specified by the Commission. The poll for the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election will take place on the 27th of February 2023 (Monday).
