Deputy Commissioner Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararajan IAS, convened a joint meeting of Dimapur District Task Force for Covid-19 and DTF for Covid-19 vaccination Wednesday, 18th May 2022, in the conference hall of DC office Dimapur.
DC Dimapur informed that nil cases were reported in Dimapur district for the last couple of weeks with a very negligible positivity rate. He however said that the meeting was called for reminding the members not to be complacent but to remain in a state of preparedness since Covid-19 cases are increasing in other parts of the country and also globally.
About Covid-19 vaccination, Rajesh informed that the Dimapur district recorded the highest vaccination doses administered satisfactorily in all aspects. Towards this, he mentioned that the Central team from the ministry appreciated and expressed satisfaction during their visit to Dimapur in April. DC also informed that the Central team appreciated the public in general for following Covid-19 appropriate behaviour and also the support extended by NGOs and civil societies to the DTF and vaccination team.
Concerning the routine immunization, Rajesh advised the vaccination team for keeping track of the routine immunization especially for children.
In the meeting, the need for common biomedical waste management facilities at Dimapur was raised by Doctor Clement from CISHR, to which the DC Dimapur asked DMC Dimapur for initiating the proposal in coordination with CMO Dimapur.
CMO Dimapur highlighted the scenario of the current situation and a comparative study of the Covid-19 situation in the district.
District Immunization Officer, Dr. Rebecca highlighted the Covid-19 vaccination status of health workers, frontline workers, senior citizens, and amongst different age groups till 15th May 2022.
She explained that for the age group 12 to 14 years CorBE vax is available in 20 dose vials and to avoid vaccine shortage, the Government has been administering the vaccine to the children in the schools- both government and private. The team has visited 90 schools so far conducting session sites for the 12 to 14 years age group, she informed.
The meeting was attended by ACP Dimapur, administrative officers, and Dimapur DTF members.
