Basing on information received about illegal sand mining in Dhansiri River, the District administration led by the Extra Assistant Commissioner (Sadar) accompanied by Police personnel & Dobashis went to the spot to verify the same. It was found that some individuals were illegally mining sand in Dhansiri River behind Interstate Terminus, Purana Bazar. One JCB which was being used for the same was seized by the authorities. In this regard, a case has been registered under East Police Station, Dimapur.

It is to be highlighted that the Administration has completely banned mining of sand/boulder in rivers of Dimapur district in the previous years and another order to this effect was also issued on 29thJuly 2021.

Since cases of non-compliance are rising, the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur has warned all concerned that stern legal action under relevant sections of the law will be taken against anyone found defying the order.
