Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Gregory Thejawelie NCS, launched the free ration distribution program under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana at Naga Hospital Colony on 23rd April 2020.

Under the free ration program rice will be distributed for free to poor families in Naga Hospital colony through the fair price shop located in the colony. 5kg of rice for each member of the family will be distributed to the impoverished families each month under the scheme. The scheme is a live saver for many families struggling to make ends meet during the lockdown period as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. However the scheme can be availed only by AAY and PHH ration card holders.
