DCs’ CONFERENCE HELD

The Deputy Commissioners' Conference is being held from 1st to 2nd July 2022 at the Conference Hall, Commissioner's Office, Kohima.

Speaking at the inaugural program, Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio said that the DCs and SPs hold the prime posts in serving the country and the states and are the face of the State Government. Rio said that being the Administrative Officers in the Districts, DCs should be more effective in maintaining Law and Order situations, exercising government policies, implementing the development activities effectively, and making them visible in the eyes of the public. The CM said the Administration and Police should work together, terming them as husband and wife with all the responsibilities vested upon them in making the district prosperous. Rio also pointed out that being the Administrative Heads, everyone is expected to possess leadership qualities in taking the decision and timely action in any matter. CM asked the DCs to propagate the names given to the Districts, in line with the name given to the state as "Land of Festivals". Rio also urged the DCs to be wiser in handling cases and delivering justice to its citizens when it comes to dealing with modern laws and instituted customary laws and requested them to bring up the printed relevant laws in local dialect to let citizens understand in a better way.

Chief Minister, who also dwelled on acquiring Land Pattas asked the DCs to get Pattas of the Govt. Lands at the earliest to avoid land disputes and suggested to create Public Parks and other utilities which will improve the living standards of the people with a sense of responsibility in the Districts.

As the monsoon sets in, The CM urged the DCs and line departments to immediately coordinate with DDMA and get the Incident Response Team active and ready for any calamity. Rio also informed the DCs to be very careful and sensitive in dealing with Census Operation to avoid mistakes and also create awareness regarding COVID-19.

In his concluding remark, CM urged the DCs to build a good and cordial relationship with Tribal Hohos, CSOs, NGOs, Churches, and Politicians of the District to take the Districts forward.

The program was chaired by Commissioner Nagaland, Rovilatuo Mor and the activities of the day-long program on the first day included a Review of law and order matters/ issues with participation of DGP, review of Aadhar, Border Affairs, Land Records, Village Councils, and GBs, CAWD, State Election Commission and review on establishment matters including rationalization of DBs.

Minister for Agriculture, Kaito Aye, Advisor, Medo Yokha, and other state high officials accompanied the Chief Minister.
