Digital intervention on handloom and handicraft sector for livelihood enhancement of artisans of NE States was launched by Advisor, Industries and Commerce, Labour and Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Imnatiba on 24th September 2021 at NIELIT Auditorium Kohima Addressing at the launching program Imnatiba said that importance of digital was much needed at this time of pandemic which has become a part and parcel in the society. Imnatiba said that digital intervention on handlooms and handicrafts sectors for Livelihood will enhanced many Artisans in the state. He also stated that Government of Nagaland is giving much importance to handloom and handicraft artisans so that our rich culture would upgraded at greater heights. While encouraging the Department of Industries and Commerce and NIELIT for implementing the project successful and sustainable digital for the business and entrepreneurs, he expressed his hope that through their cooperation and support many opportunities would be open for the artisans and entrepreneurs to build up their innovative and traditional skills. He also added that through this initiatives it will give a value addition in the handlooms and handicrafts sectors. Further he also encouraged the departments to make used of the facilities to enhance livelihoods through this projects. Director of NIELIT L.Lanuwabang while highlighting the projects he said that the Nagaland state is the first state to take up such initiatives projects in the North East with an aim to develop appropriate process technologies that produce value added products with quality up gradation, quality control and technological up gradation and also to strengthen packaging and delivery of products so that it will increased shelf life and access to markets, prospects of artisans and entrepreneurs are to be enhanced and develop marketing and distribution channels and linkages to create an overall conductive environment for entrepreneurial growth. He also said that the project outcome was to accelerate artisanal growth through training, support services, linkages technology and digital market development, creation of repository of artisans in the state. A total of 5920 tribal youths and women practicing either handlooms or handicrafts from Nagaland will be trained in through this projects facilities. He also said that the project outcome will be promoting the product globally by Dynamic Web Portal with e-commerce facilities for worldwide marketability. Commissioner and Secretary Industries &Commerce, Kekhrievor Kevichusa said that NIELIT Kohima has been supporting the department of industries and commerce as a start up incubator and in various requirements of at IT fields. He also said that through this projects facilities it will be able to highlights and promote not only to the department but also to the artists and artisans in Nagaland to enhance their skills. Nagaland being the first Digital Intervention project in the North East, the facilities projects will also be available not just for the trainees but also to the interested entrepreneurs to facilitate a linkages for marketing to any producers. He also stated that the department was on the process to identified how to formalized the protection of intellectual property relating to traditional motive and symbols, in which he encouraged to make use of the digital intervention facilities to stress on this aspects to protect Naga motive and symbols in design and branding. During the programme Advisor Imnatiba also launch MIS portal and releases the digital Literacy Book. The programme was organized by NIELIT in collaboration with the department of Industries and Commerce, welcome address delivered by Joint Director NIELIT, Daniel Meren and vote of thanks by Dy.
