Disaster Management Authority Dimapur (DDMA) in coordination with district administration Dimapur has started distribution of relief packages to cover 11,000 daily wage earners in the district as per guidelines of NSDMA, Home Department. The first consignment of relief packages to 450 beneficiaries was distributed at Khuhuboto on 6th May 2020. A larger consignment was distributed today 8th May 2020, covering 1000 beneficiaries in Niuland, 1000 in Chumukedima, 600 in Medziphema, and 450 beneficiaries at Dhansiripar.
It may be noted that following nationwide lockdown as preventive measure to contain Corona Virus, all economic and commercial activities came to a standstill. Daily wage earners happens to be the worst sufferers of the lockdown, who eke out their living from the daily works in towns and cities. To support this vulnerable group and also to mitigate the hardship faced by daily wage earners/ labourers, during COVID-19, Dimapur district administration has started distributing relief packages of essential commodities to each beneficiary at the following scale:
Rice 10kgs, Lentils 1kg, Kholar/ Naga dal 1 kg, M.oil Half litre, Sugar 1kg, Salt 1kg, Tea 200gm, Bathing soap 2pieces, washing soap 2 pieces , Masala packet 100gms 1 packet, Onion and garlic 1 kg, Chilli powder 100gms.
District administration Dimapur conveys appreciation to the Western Sumi Hoho, Red Cross volunteers, DCCI, Naga Council Dimapur, Supply department for helping in packaging since 29th April 2020.
