The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Wokha convened its monthly meeting on 13th October at the DC’s Conference Hall, Wokha. The meeting was chaired by Advisor and Chairman DPDB Mhathung Yanthan, accompanied by MLA Mhonbemo Humtsoe, and co-chaired by Vice Chairman and Deputy Commissioner Wokha, K. Mhathung Tsanglao. The session began with a review of last month’s agendas and their progress.
A major highlight was the NHIDCL review report on the Wokha–Merapani road. Officials presented updates on maintenance works including drainage clearance, jungle cutting, pothole filling, and overall progress. Chairman Mhathung Yanthan directed the engineers and contractors to uphold strict quality standards and workmanship, while NHIDCL assured that the project would be completed by 15th November 2026. The house also deliberated on the poor signal issues of All India Radio Wokha, resolving to appeal to higher authorities for a full-fledged upgradation of the station. Further discussions touched upon the upcoming departmental sports events, emphasizing participation and coordination.
The Education Department delivered a PowerPoint presentation highlighting challenges such as low enrolment in government schools, largely attributed to rural-to-urban migration. Shortcomings in infrastructure and systemic issues were also discussed. Advisor Yanthan stressed the importance of regular attendance, directing all Sub-Divisional Officers, BDOs, and Border Magistrates to ensure consistent participation in DPDB meetings.
