The Department of Economics & Statistics has notified on digitization of old manual births and deaths certificates through the ORGI Portal (crsorgi.gov.in) to maintain a comprehensive digital registry of births and deaths records within the state due to the requirement of digital births and deaths certificates from citizens and various institutions. The procedures are as follows:
1. Births and Deaths Certificates Issued Prior to 2014: To digitize births and deaths certificate issued prior to 2014, the applicant must surrender the original manual certificates to the concerned Registrar and a new digitized certificate will be issued.
2. Births and Deaths Certificates Issued Post 2014: Applicants seeking to digitize births and deaths certificate issued after 2014 are required to produce an affidavit approved by a District Magistrate or Sub-Divisional Magistrate or an Executive Magistrate authorized by the District Magistrate to the Registrar along with the original manual birth/death certificate.
3. Only genuine certificate issued by the Registrar of Births & Deaths and information available in the record can be digitized.
4. The District Economics & Statistics Officers (DESOs) have been authorized to register births & deaths events through the CRS, ORGI Portal for those rural Registration units which are yet to be digitized.
