The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) flying squad team from Wokha Police Station with representatives from National Tobacco Control Programme(NTCP), DBs, personnel from Wokha Police Station and Women Police Station conducted raid/enforcement drive in an around educational institutions on 22nd September 2022.

As per Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, selling of any kind of tobacco products within 100 meters within the school area is restricted. The team penalized 1 (one) defaulter and seized tobacco products from the shops falling within the restricted areas, the defaulters were warned that, should they fail to abide the COTPA, necessary legal action shall be initiated as per the provision of the Law.

The seized tobacco products were destroyed the same day in presence of the team members at Wokha Police Station premises.
