The State Finance Department through a press release stated that there is a general misconception that the fiscal year 2022-23 has been projected to close with a deficit of Rs. 2,212.74 crores. It said, rather, the budget for the year 2022-23, projects a positive balance of Rs. 150.30 crores. This is the first time that the State Government has been able to present a budget with a positive balance after many years of passing deficit budgets. The deficit figure of Rs. 2,212.74 crore is the level of deficit accumulated over the years.
