The Airgun Sporting Association of Nagaland (ASAN) will be organising its first open winter airgun shooting competition on 9th December 2021 at Likya Community Hall, Wokha.
ASAN is an association formed by like-minded friends with the intention of contributing to the society in the form of sports, ASAN has 10 founding member as of now which has members from all over the district in the state, said the president of ASAN Achumo Odyuo.
Achamo Odyuo said this competition is open to all, and participants can use only break barrel and spring airgun. The winner of the competition will be awarded with a cash prize of Rs.20,000/- (Twenty thousand) second- Rs.15,000/- (fifteen thousand) third- Rs.7000/- (Seven thousand) and Seven consolation prizes.
Nagas have the instinct of hunting, the talent of marksmanship is in our genes so why not utilize this talent in the right way and convert it in the arena of sports, instead of shooting/killing birds and animals which damages our eco-system, he said. Through this event, youths can compete in the national and international level, if taken seriously.
Participants from districts like Kohima and Dimapur are also participating, said the President of the Association.
