Celebrating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Fit India Walk for Peace was flagged off from the PHQ Junction P.R. Hill Kohima by the Director of Youth Resources and Sports, Akumla Chuba on 2nd October 2020.

Speaking at the flagging off programme, Asangla Imti said that FIT India Movement is organized and celebrated in remembrance of the good deeds of Mahatma Gandhi who was a social reformer and laid the principle of non-violence which not only made an impact for India but for the world as well and that Gandhi fought for the upliftment of the poor and their self-reliance, discrimination etc and as a tribute to for his good deeds of non-violence the walk is organized which would bring harmony, she added.

The FIT India Movement has been launched by the Prime Minister on 29th August 2019. This movement is a people’s movement wherein every citizen gives time to himself for being physically active and fit.

The Fit India Walk for Peace was partaken by National Service Scheme volunteers, officers and staff of YRS and well-wishers and culminated at the Local ground Kohima. Vote of thanks was proposed by National Service Scheme (NSS) Officer, Zeneikho.
