Flag off programme on World Environment Day 2022 was hosted by Tuensang Forest Division on 3rd June, 2022 with MLA, Toyang Changkong Chang as Special Guest.
Toyang Changkong Chang impressed upon the laws which are enacted in order to protect and conserve the forest areas and wildlife. He also requested the public to sustainably use natural resources so that future generations do not suffer due to our activities. He also highlighted the importance of planting trees to protect ourselves from the effect of climate change.
Saplings were also planted by the MLA and representatives from other constituencies viz. C. Saku (Vice President, 54 A/C Tuensang Sadar-2); Limba Chang, PS to Advisor (R & B); Athrun Yimkhiung, PS to Advisor (IPR & VG) as a mark of the start of seedling distribution and celebration of World Environment Day, 2022 with the theme “Only One Earth” which focuses on living in harmony with nature.
The programme was chaired by Betikumla. Samom Khelen Singh, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Tuensang Forest Division delivered the welcome speech. The programme was followed by distribution of plant saplings with active participation from various Schools, Government Departments, Village Councils, student bodies, churches, civil societies and individuals.
