NIELIT Kohima celebrated Fresher's Day with great enthusiasm to welcome the first-year students of Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) at its campus on 28th July 2023. The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, faculty members, and students, making it a memorable occasion for everyone.
The special guest for the event was Sethrongkyu, Advisor, Information Technology & Communication, Economics & Statistics, Government of Nagaland. He graced the occasion with his presence and marked the inauguration of the Internet of Things (IoT) and 3D Printing Lab at NIELIT Kohima. The lab is equipped with cutting-edge technology and is expected to empower students to stay abreast of emerging technologies and innovations, thereby preparing them to compete on a global level. Furthermore, the special guest also gave away certificates to the police participants undergoing advanced cyber forensics training at NIELIT Kohima.
The students' ingenuity was on full display as they presented a range of IoT applications designed and built as part of their academic projects. These projects encompassed cutting-edge technologies and real-world applications. Some of the notable IoT applications showcased during the demonstration include Smart Parking System, Bluetooth Controlled Home Automation System, Smart Door Lock using RFID, LED Matrix using Arduino, Smart Street Light System, Radar using Arduino, and many more. In addition to the impressive IoT applications, the special guest also had the opportunity to witness the brilliance of NIELIT Kohima's students in the realm of 3D printing technology.
Sethrongkyu, visibly impressed by the students' projects, commended their technical skills and creativity. He emphasized the significance of such practical learning experiences in shaping future technocrats and contributing to the development of Nagaland's technology landscape.
In his address, Sethrongkyu appreciated the well-equipped IT and Electronics infrastructure available at NIELIT Kohima. He emphasized the importance of quality technical education and committed to extending continuous support to further enhance technical education in Nagaland in the field of IT and Electronics sector. He urged the students to embrace hard work and commitment as the keys to success.
During his welcome address, Er. Lanuwabang, Director of NIELIT Kohima, shed light on the diverse activities and opportunities that NIELIT provides to the state of Nagaland. He warmly welcomed the freshman students to NIELIT, emphasizing that they are not only joining the institute but also entering the vast world of Information Technology, which offers endless opportunities for innovation and growth. He encouraged them to explore and excel in this dynamic field, contributing to technological advancements and making a positive impact on society. The vote of thanks was delivered by Er. A Morimenba Amer, Joint Director of NIELIT, in the presence of several dignitaries, including the Additional Director I&C, Director STPI, and other officials.
