The 32nd Spero Meliora Literary Competitive Programme was held on 8th August 2026 at the Kohima Village Multipurpose Building, Ziekezou, with the Governor of Nagaland, Nand Kishore Yadav, attending the programme as the Special Guest.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor congratulated the Kohima Village Students’ Union and the Dolphin Club for successfully organising the 32nd edition of the programme. He said the motto “Spero Meliora,” meaning “I hope for better things,” reflects the aspirations of students striving for excellence and reminds them that hope inspires achievement, while perseverance and character lead to success.
Speaking on the theme, the Governor said it encourages young people to overcome hesitation, take initiative and move forward with confidence. Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he urged the students to “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached,” and encouraged them to seize opportunities, embrace challenges and strive for excellence.
The Governor observed that in a rapidly changing world, success belongs to those who can think independently, communicate effectively and adapt to change. He noted that literary competitions play an important role in developing confidence, critical thinking and the ability to express ideas clearly.
He also commended the organisers, teachers, parents and volunteers for their efforts in nurturing the talents and character of young people.
Encouraging the students and participants, the Governor urged them to remain curious, read widely and pursue their dreams with confidence, integrity and humility. He emphasised that true success is measured not only by personal achievements but also by the positive impact one makes on others.
The Governor wished all the participants success and congratulated the organisers on another memorable edition of the Spero Meliora programme.
The event was organised by the Kohima Village Students’ Union and the Dolphin Club, Kohima Village, under the theme “Break the Ice and Steal a March.”
The annual literary programme has been encouraging and nurturing the literary talents of students for over three decades.
