The Governor of Nagaland, Nand Kishore Yadav visited Mokokchung District on 10th September 2026 to review the important developmental schemes and projects being implemented by different government departments in the district and also had an interaction with the civil society organizations (CSO), beneficiaries of various government schemes.
The Governor chaired a high-level meeting at the Deputy Commissioner Conference Hall, Mokokchung attended by elected representatives, Deputy Commissioner, Senior Superintendent of Police and heads of all line departments.
In his address, the Governor said Mokokchung known as the “Land of Pioneers” has a distinguished legacy in the field of education, public service, institution building and community leadership since its inception in 1889. This places a responsibility on all of us to honour that legacy through effective and efficient governance. He asked all departments to shift from a scheme-based approach to an outcome-based approach.
The Governor laid emphasis on key areas: Accountability - where officers must conduct regular field inspection and fixed responsibility for delays, Convergence - where departments must work as one team especially in Agriculture, Tourism and youth development. Youth and Skills - focus on quality education, digital literacy, entrepreneurship and employable skills, Youth must be treated as partners in development. Agriculture and Local economy- stress on productivity, value addition branding and market access for farmers, handloom and handicraft products. Sustainable tourism that generates local employment and income, while protecting the environment and cultural heritage, he added.
The Governor urged departments to put forward three questions - what have we achieved? What remains pending? And what specific action should be taken? And set reasonable targets with clear timelines. The Governor was optimistic that with coordinated efforts, Mokokchung can ensure opportunities for the youths, better returns for farmers and essential services in every village, while protecting its cultural and natural heritage.
Earlier in the program, welcome address was delivered by Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Ajit Kumar Verma IAS, presentation of district profile was presented by Er Neithozo Theunuo, NCS, EAC Mokokchung, PowerPoint presentation was presented by the department of Agriculture, Medical, PWD (R&B), Land Resource and DPO (ICDS). Short speech was also delivered by Advisor for Water Resource Govt of Nagaland, Tongpang Ozukum and vote of thanks was proposed by Addl. Deputy Commissioner Mokokchung, Atsungba Walling NCS.
