The full text of the statement on COVID-19 as given by the Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha IAS is as follows :

 

Dear citizens of Nagaland

Good evening

I would like to give a briefing on the COVID-19 situation in the State as on 14th of April 2020

I would like to inform that today the Cabinet in its meeting endorsed the announcement of the Hon’ble Prime Minister for extending the lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19 in all parts of the country, and accordingly on the directions of the Government of India, orders have been issued by the State Government that all the lockdown measures will continue to remain in force in the entire State up to 3rd of May 2020 to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the State.

I sincerely appeal to everyone for their continued support and cooperation for adherence to the lockdown measures.

I would like to inform that as of 6 pm today, a total of 174 samples of suspected cases have been sent for testing from the State including 38 samples which were sent today. The results of 97 samples have been received including 22 samples of the co-passengers of the COVID-19 positive person of Dimapur, who are from Kohima, and had returned from Kolkata to Dimapur by the Air India flight no. 709 on 24th March 2020, and all the results are negative. The results of the remaining 77 samples are awaited.

As informed yesterday the COVID positive persons is a resident of Marwari Patti, Dimapur, and this area along with Murgi Patti and GS Road have been sealed and 25 (twenty five) Teams of the District Surveillance Teams are conducting Active Surveillance for Contact Tracing and Tracking in these areas and around Dimapur. Till now, 1391 persons have been interviewed and screened and 62(sixty two) Close Contacts have been traced.  Further in connection with the positive case, 72 samples have been collected for testing from Dimapur till now.

I conclude by once again seeking the support and cooperation of everyone, particularly our Civil Society Organizations and the Tribal Bodies for unitedly combating the threat of COVID-19.
