The full text of the statement on COVID-19 as given by the Principal Secretary, Home, Abhijit Sinha IAS is as follows :

“Good evening

I would like to inform that today we received the first batch of consignment of materials and equipments for setting up the BSL-3 Testing Lab at NHAK Kohima which has been delivered by an Indian Air Force Aircraft at Dimapur. The process for setting up a test lab in CISHR, Dimapur is also going on. 

With regard to the COVID positive patient from Dimapur detected in Guwahati; as of 6:00 PM today, a total of 140 samples of persons connected to the patient, which includes co-passengers, health care workers and family members, have been collected and sent for testing.  Out of this, results of 100 samples have been received and they are all are negative. The results of 40 samples are awaited.

So far, altogether 226 samples have been sent for testing from the State including 41 samples which have been sent today. Results of 184 samples have been received and all are negative, 2 samples will be sent for retest and results of 40 samples are awaited.

I would like to inform that certain additional containment measures for preventing the spread of COVID-19 have been made applicable in the State with immediate effect. Among such additional measures is the mandatory requirement of wearing face masks or face coverings in all public places and work places by all the citizens and completely refraining from spitting in public places. I appeal for adherence to all the additional containment measures also by every citizen.
