76th Independence Day was celebrated at Pfutsero town sports complex with MLA and Chairman DPDB Phek, Kezhienyi Khalo as the special guest on 15th Aug, 2022. 

The special guest unfurled the National flag and took Rashtriya salute from nine parade contingents and read out Independence Day message. 

Other highlights of the programme included cultural tune by CMHSS, Pfutsero, patriotic play by Nazareth school. The parade was led by Yansaromo Lotha ABI C/5th NAP. During the function the best Urban Development cleanest ward award 2022 was given to Zhipa colony and Seed Farm colony. The cleanest town award in Nagaland was awarded to Pfutsero town and also the best innovative award with a cash price and a citation. HSLC toppers were felicited, Keweko Mero top 17th rank HSLC (TMTHSS), Yotalii Khamo state subject toppers in Social Science HSLC from MHSS and Kronelu Swiiro, highest aggregate HSLC (GHSS) Pfutsero, Wepe-u Mero got highest aggregate in HSSLC (GHSS) and Dienite Chiezou highest GPA award.

Exhibition football match was played between FAPD and PTYO which was followed by beating of the Retreat.
