District Level Youth Festival 2024, organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with DHEW, SAKHI-One Stop Centre and DAPCU was celebrated at Town Hall, Zunheboto on 19th September 2024 with the theme "Innovation in Science and Technology". 

In the first of the two sessions, ADC Zunheboto, Keyirangding Hegui, speaking on the occasion as the Special Guest Speaker, related upon the richness of the resources we possess in our state, the pleasantness of the friendly weather in our district, the richness in fertility of the soil, and most importantly to acknowledge and learn to appreciate what we have and make the best of it, with the innovativeness and improvisations with the latest technologies through scientific managements, and said there is no boundaries for innovation. 

 Hegui further lauded the appreciable efforts of YRS department for successfully organising the occasion and giving a platform to the young minds to showcase their talents in the field of science and technology. He later ended by appreciating various participants of the cultural items and competitions and wished them the very best for the state level events as well. 

While delivering the welcome address, YRO Zunheboto, Atoli Yeptho said that, the celebration was modelled as the national level festival and the event aims to mould the youths of our state to the national level by giving them equal opportunities and platforms. She informed that, winners of the competition would be further vying in the state level events.

In the competition session, Lino Kiba of Bloomfield High School claimed the first spot and Shudhanshu from Olympic Higher Secondary School came second in Declamation contest. In the Science Mela, Nighakivi Sumi and Imnameren Ozüküm representing Olympic Higher Secondary School claimed the top spot and Lighi K. Awomi of Seven Homes School came Runners Up. While in the painting competition, Onilo N. Zhimo of Corner Stone Higher Secondary School came first and Vikivi H. Zhimo of Bloomfield School came in the second place. 

The celebration was enthralled with various cultural performances like folk songs and dances from the youths and special presentations from Kiviti Muru.

Further, the Youth community was enlightened with activities conducted by DHEW-BBBP to sensitize the mass on safety and security of women in the district and encouraged to address to the women and girls related issues to support and be advocates for women and girls' rights. The programme deliberated on gender related issues as well, promoting women leaders, empowering women economically, educating women and girls, safety and security of women were highlighted.
