The Longleng District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting cum Advent Christmas celebration was held on 12th December 2025 under the chairmanship of MLA and Chairman, DPDB Longleng, A. Pongshi Phom, at the Yungmon River (Yongnyah). The meeting commenced with the introduction of new members.
After reviewing the minutes of the previous meeting, the agenda taken up for discussion was the construction of an approach road near the 132 kV sub-station at Pongo village, forwarded by the MLA of 50 AC. On the matter, the Deputy Commissioner informed the house that, in consultation with the Power Department, a detailed DPR had been submitted, and the house agreed to forward the matter to the higher authority.
The Advent Christmas programme began with an invocation pronounced by Pastor Pongkap of Yongnyah Town Baptist Church, followed by the hymn “Joy to the World”.
In his welcome address, the Deputy Commissioner and Vice Chairman, DPDB Longleng, W. Manpai Phom, NCS, expressed his gratitude to all the members present and acknowledged the council members of Yongnyah village for their support towards the success of the programme. He stated that organising the programme at different locations provides a time for relaxation and an opportunity to welcome the joy of the Christmas season. He mentioned that the district is blessed with the leadership of two elected members and appealed to officers to further strengthen cooperation for the upliftment and progress of the district.
MLA A. Pongshi Phom, in his Christmas greetings, conveyed Advent Christmas wishes to everyone present on behalf of his family and the Government of Nagaland. He said that the meeting was a time to reflect on the guidance, wisdom, and the many blessings that God has bestowed upon everyone over the past eleven months and for sustaining them thus far. He thanked all district Heads of Departments, office staff led by the Deputy Commissioner, the Superintendent of Police, civil society organisations, and the general public for their cooperation and dedication.
He further informed the gathering that Orangkong Baptist Church will be celebrating its 75th Platinum Jubilee from 26th to 28th December 2025, and requested all members to uphold the programme in prayer for the success of the event.
ADC Tamlu, Lankonsen Tsanglao, in his greetings, said that Christ came into the world not to adjust to it, but to make amends to its current state by challenging what is wrong. He added that Christ questioned injustice, and likewise, individuals and society should question the government when it does not function as it should. He observed that only a few people have the courage to question and challenge the system.
The Christmas message was shared by the Pastor of Tamlu Town Baptist Church, and a special song was presented by District Hospital Longleng. Earlier, the programme was chaired by the District Agricultural Officer, Maongsangla.
