The opening ceremony of the IndiaSkills Competition 2025–26 was held on 29th March 2026 at Auditorium-I, Gautam Buddha University, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, marking the formal commencement of one of the country’s largest skill development competitions. The event will be culminating on 2nd April 2026.
The event brought together participants, officials, experts, and dignitaries from across 36 States and Union Territories, reflecting the nationwide commitment towards strengthening skill development and youth empowerment. The competition follows a rigorous selection process conducted over a month-long period, beginning from District Level, progressing through State Level, and culminating at the Zonal Level, before reaching the national stage.
The Nagaland team is represented by one State official, one team leader and a lone participant Imtisangla Kangshou, a silver medalist in the Zonal Level who is competing in the Restaurant Service job role. It may be noted that Nagaland has reached the National Level for the first time, marking a significant milestone in the State’s journey towards skill excellence and national participation.
An audio-visual presentation on IndiaSkills Competition 2025–26 highlighted participation from the Northeast, West, South, East, and North regions. This was followed by addresses from eminent dignitaries including Prof. Rana Pratap Singh, Vice Chancellor, Gautam Buddha University, and senior officials from Technical Education, Skill Development, Employment, and Youth Affairs.
A special address by Senior Economic Advisor, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India, Manisha Sensarma, IES emphasized the importance of skill-based education and industry-ready workforce.
The keynote address was delivered by Secretary, MSDE, Government of India, Debashree Mukherjee, IAS, who underscored the Government’s commitment to promoting excellence in skills and innovation among youth.
The ceremony also featured cultural performances showcasing India’s heritage and diversity, adding colour and cultural richness to the event.
The IndiaSkills Competition 2025–26 will be conducted over a four-day event, featuring competitions across 60-odd job roles covering multiple sectors. The winners of the national competition will earn the opportunity to represent India at the International Skills Competition scheduled to be held in Shanghai, China in September 2026, thereby showcasing India's skilled workforce at the global platform.
