The Pungro Town Council commenced the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 campaign on 14th September 2024, as part of a nationwide initiative aimed at promoting cleanliness and sanitation. The event was launched at the ADC’s Office, Pungro, Kiphire under the theme "Swabhav Swachhata-Sanskar Swachhata."

To effectively implement this cleanliness drive, the EAC Pungro, Yitachu Thur has invited the participation of students, NGOs, ward chairmen, stakeholders, and department officials. He emphasized that creativity, innovation, and ideas on how to tackle cleanliness issues will not come from outside; they will have to come from within. Every community has its own set of challenges and difficulties, but it also has its own strengths.

The Swachhata Hi Seva campaign in Pungro will continue over the next two weeks, with various activities and programs aimed at ensuring long-lasting change in the town's cleanliness and waste management practices. The campaign includes a large-scale cleanliness drive focused on clearing dry and wet garbage from block spots around town, including the main junction, 6- star junction, the public ground, and the hospital area.

Furthermore, drawing and painting competitions have been organized for lower classes, while higher classes will participate in essay writing competitions on the theme "Cleanliness and Plastic Waste Management."
