Deputy Commissioner, Tseminyu, Dr. Zasekuolie Chusi IAS has informed that there has been information of indiscriminate activities of stone quarries and stone crusher units on portions of the National Highway 02 lane between Henbenji and K. Station village under Tseminyu District jurisdiction without authorization/previous permission from the government, such activities therein have not only tended to encroach upon the highway land but are also hazardous with the materials/debris deposited on the road from the aforesaid activities posing risks to highway traffic, having taken due cognizance of the detrimental effects connected with the aforesaid activities and following a thorough deliberation the DPDB during its 17th June 2022 meeting had collectively and unanimously decided to disallow the indiscriminate and unregulated activities of such stone quarries/stone crusher units.

In pursuance of the said Board's decision and exercise of the powers conferred under section 24 of the control of national highways (Land and Traffic) Act 2002, all stone quarrying/stone crusher units operating on the said stretch of the National Highway 02 under Tseminyu District has been directed to cease all such unauthorized activities and to clear the road/ highway land of deposited materials/debris resulting from the activities thereof within seven days from the date of issue of this order.

In consequence, no stone crusher units shall operate on the said highway land unless otherwise permitted by the government on receipt of a written application and subject to verification and such suitable conditions and regulations as may be prescribed by the government. Any failure to comply with this order shall constitute a punishable offense and appropriate action under relevant provisions of the law is liable to be initiated against the concerned proprietor.
