In the following days, Nagaland will experience cloudy heavy rainfall in almost all the districts till 25th of August 2024. These showers may be accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning at isolated places. During this period, heavy rainfall is expected in the districts of Kohima, Tuensang, Mokokchung, Mon, Kiphire, Zunheboto, Phek, Peren. It is therefore important to take necessary precautionary measures during this time and exercise caution from lightning strikes and gale winds which may cause disruption in communication and connectivity. Due to the likelihood of excessive precipitation in the hill sector, Nagaland's lowland and foothill regions, including Dimapur, Nuiland, Chumukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit, and Tuli, are likely to be impacted by inundated water logging and flash floods.
In this regard, NSDMA, Home Department urges the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period. The NSDMA, Home Department also requests all the District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to be on alert to save lives and properties during this monsoon period.
