A State Level Job Fair 2025, organised by the Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, Department of School Education Nagaland was held at T.M Government Higher Secondary School, Kohima on 12th December 2025, to empowered students by providing employability skills through vocational education.
State Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, L. Jamithung Lotha in his inaugural speech said the department is up-skilling the students of government schools where they are trained and assessed by the Sector Skills Council, and the Job Fair was aimed to connect skilled youth employers to have interaction between the job market and the students to see if their skills fits into the system or not. He said it will have a tremendous effect in the later stages, and also informed that as per the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP), states skilling is a must for all students.
He also stated that the objective of the Job Fair was to facilitate job placements, apprenticeships and internships, provide platforms for employers, strengthen industrial linkages, create awareness of career and security options with participation from local industries and various service sectors, on site interviews, counselling and information test on apprenticeship and entrepreneurship, improve employment pathways for vocational students, stronger industry, school partnerships, establishment of any employment facilitation mode for the state to have a far reaching effect for the students,
Joint Mission Director, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, Dr. Chumbeni Kikon in her introductory speech said it was first time for Samagra Shiksha Nagaland to organize a State Fair for vocational students and alumni to provide employment opportunities for students and expressed her gratitude to the five vocational training partners and consultants for the Job Fair.
She highlighted that the Job Fair aims to provide Career Counselling to the students, as well as School Level implementation of the ‘My Career Advisor App’ a program by the Ministry of Education Government of India and called upon the students of class IX to class XII to avail the opportunity.
She also stated that apart from the skilling and skill specific training provided in the schools, the students in the Vocational Education Sector have been coming out with different innovative practices and said some of the schools have even displayed their products for sale in today’s fair. She informed that exhibition stalls has been setup by the 22 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya hostels in Nagaland and 13 residential hostels to exhibit their finished products.
The Samagra Shiksha Job Fair is providing Vocational Education in the following trades- Tourism and Hospitality, Automotive, Beauty and Wellness, Electronics and Hardware, Multi-skilling, Retail, Healthcare, Plumbing, Information Technology/IT enable services and Agriculture. The employers in the Job Fair includes- Mevi Enterprise, Ilandlo Services Pvt. Ltd, Local Colour Nagaland, Café Eva, Talent Acquaintance, Hotel Polo Towers, Symbios Group, Vuto Hyndai, Matrix Enterprise, Fashion TV, The Green Caravan, The Baker’s Oven, New Gold Star Tyres and YouthNet.
The fair was attended by students from different districts and also students from in and around Kohima.
