The Draft Electoral Roll for the 6-Tening and 7-Peren Assembly Constituencies was published during a meeting held at the DC Mini Conference Hall, Peren on 20th September 2026.
The meeting was organized by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (DEO), Peren, in accordance with the directives of the Election Commission of India.
Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Peren, Hiazu Meru, in his address, stated that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Electoral Roll was a significant exercise. He highlighted the challenges encountered during the revision process and said concerted efforts had been made to ensure its completion. He also appreciated the cooperation extended by political parties throughout the SIR exercise and urged them to continue extending the same cooperation in the days ahead.
Giving an overview of the SIR exercise, Meru said that Peren District, along with the rest of the districts, commenced the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026, during which Booth Level Officers (BLOs) undertook House-to-House distribution of Enumeration Forms (EF) from 16th August 2026 to 14th September 2026.
He informed that during the SIR exercise, BLOs collected 53,859 Enumeration Forms from electors, while 8,267 electors were identified under the categories of Absent, Shifted, Dead and Double Entry.
As per the Draft Electoral Roll published on 20th September 2026, he informed that the total electorate of Peren District stands at 53,859, comprising 26,609 male and 27,250 female electors.
The 6-Tening Assembly Constituency has 26,508 electors, including 13,307 male and 13,201 female electors, while the 7-Peren Assembly Constituency has 27,351 electors, comprising 13,302 male and 14,049 female electors.
On the rationalisation of polling stations, Meru stated that Polling Station No. 7/21-Jalukie B (N/W), which crossed the threshold of 1,200 electors, had been bifurcated into two polling stations.
Representatives of three recognised political parties in Peren District-BJP, INC and NPF attended the draft publication event. The representatives collected hard copies of the entire Electoral Roll along with soft copies of the Electoral Roll without photographs.
Meru further informed that claims and objections, if any, against the published Draft Electoral Roll may be lodged in Form 6, Form 7 or Form 8 between 20th September 2026 to 20th October 2026.
He also informed that the notice and hearing period for cases under the categories of No Mapping and Anomalies detected in the Enumeration Forms submitted by electors will be conducted between 20th September 2026 to 18th November 2026.
