Deputy Commissioner & Chairman District Task Force COVID-19, Wokha, Orenthung Lotha has notified that in view of the Covid-19 pandemic and in the interest of public safety with the aim to minimize non-essential movement of private vehicles, the following order will be implemented with effect from 1st June 2020 till further orders under Section 115 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988 (Amended by Motor Vehicle Amendment Act 2019).

Vehicles with registration number ending with Odd number, 1. 3. 5. 7. & 9 are permitted to ply on Monday, Wednesday & Friday.

Even number registration number ending with 0. 2. 4. 6. & 8 are permitted to ply on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

It is further notified that all three wheelers and two wheelers will strictly follow the odd-even policy.

The above provisions will however not be applied to those vehicles which are on Covid-19 duty. Government Officials on duty, trucks supplying essential commodities, vehicles/ buses on inter-district movement ferrying stranded returnees and vehicle traveling outside/ within the district with valid travel permit issued by the concerned authority.

Deputy Commissioner further informed that, Violation of this order will be liable to penalty under Section 177 and 179 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 51(b) of the Disaster management Act 2005.
