Interaction-cum-Sensitization program on Social Health responsibility was held in association with Kohima Municipal ward Panchayat (AKMWP) on 15th January 2022 at DC’s Conference Hall kohima.
Chairing the program, DC Kohima Gregory Thejawelie said that Covid hospitals, particularly NHAK, are fully prepared with sufficient required items including oxygen, manpower arrangement. He mentioned that depending on the number of requirements, the number of beds in ICU as well as in all the ward rooms would be increased. He said Meriema Covid Care hospital and Quarantine Speciality at K Badze have also been prepared with all the required items and facilities which can be utilised. He has requested all the representatives from Wards Panchayat to take up the enforcement particularly on wearing of mask in all their respective Wards
Dr.Vezokholu Theyo, Chief Medical Officer said that the program’s objective is to protect the co-morbid group of people from COVID death. She infromed that health camp will be organised in all the urban colonies for screening NCD /co-morbid Disease and do Mapping of the Co-morbid diseases prevalence in the community within one month in anticipation of the third wave that is projected to affect persons with co-morbid diseases and unvaccinated.Targeted groups were 30 years and above, pregnant women and those less than 30 years but have family history.
She also infromed that only 50% of people living in Urban areas knew their status of their blood pressure and blood sugar i.e. diabetics and so in this social health camp responsibility, the medical team will be visiting every household and do the mapping and identify those unknown status to get them medical intervention. She also added that once the medical team is done with the mapping, every individual will get free medicines through the National Urban Health Mission.
Therefore CMO has appealed to all the wards and community to extend their support in mobilising and organising teams to visit house to house for identification of persons with Co-morbid diseases. Also to mobilise high risk groups to attend health screening and vaccination camps and assist the medical team as and when need arises for medical intervention.
While stating the action plan for vaccination of 15 to 18 years, precaution dose for hcw, flw, 60 + with co-morbid diseases in kohima district, Chief Medical Officer informed that all health centres will be Covid vaccination centres for 15 to 18 years in a phase manner as per the demand generation. Starting with kohima urban, all the health centres including HWC/SC are vaccination sites for 15-18 years beneficiaries and Vaccine for 18 +, 15+ and precautionary dose are offered everyday (Mon-Fri) at NHAK, UPHC Potterlane, and UPC Seikhazou also extra vaccination are assigned as per requirement.
