The International Day of Older Persons was observed at Longleng Town Baptist Church, Longleng on 1st October 2021.

CDPO Longleng, T. Longlang Luckpan spoke on the significance of the day and stressed on various schemes provided by the Government for the benefit of the senior citizens in the district. He also explained on procedures and guidelines to avail the facilities particularly with respect to IGNOAPS.

On the occasion Advocate, A. Mane Phom, Retainer Lawyer LDLSA sensitised the gathering on “Old Age Pensions Scheme” under Social Welfare Department & Maintenance of Senior Citizen Act, while Panglang Y Phom PL LDLSA identified the beneficiaries and assisted them to avail the IGNOAPS.

CMO Longleng, Dr.Obangjungla, who grace the program as special invitees gave away the District Level award to two distinguished senior citizens of the district namely L. Phumla Phom daughter of Lt. C. Langnyei of Pongo village and N. Metpong Phom son of Lt. Nganlam Phom of Bhumnyu village in recognition of their valuable service rendered to the society.

Earlier, welcome address was proposed by President of Senior Citizens Forum Longleng Elung Phom. The program was organised by the department of Social Welfare, Longleng.

Altogether 195 Senior Citizens of the district attended the program.
