The International Women’s Day was celebrated at Pfutsero Government College under the theme, ‘Gender Equality today for a Sustainable Tomorrow’ on the 8th March 2022. The Program was organised by the District Administration in collaboration with the Chakhesang Mother’s Association, Chakhesang Women Welfare Society and Indian Social Responsibility Network and hosted by the Women Cell, Pfutsero Government College.
Avelu Ruho, NCS, Joint Secretary to the Government of Nagaland graced the occasion as the special guest. In her address, she encouraged the women to participate in policy making and emphasised that the comprehension of women in certain area is understood in-depth by women alone and to fight this she encouraged the tool of grace and dignity in a woman.
Welcome address was delivered by Principal, Pfutsero Government College, Dr. Bwenyhunle Khing while keynote address was delivered by EAC (probationer), Er. Kilangtemsu Walling. A play reflecting gender equality scenario within families was enacted by the students of English Department. The event further sensitized the gathering through speech competition on the theme, with Zocheu Thele, Chovelu D. Vadeo and Khruvi Victor Zholia securing the first, second and third positions respectively. Interpretation and display of Chakhesang traditional attires was presented by the Chakhesang Mother’s Association with much wisdom and knowledge depicted in the attires.
District Co-Ordinator (ISRN) Kehile Rengma, highlighted the impact of Covid-19 on Women. The Chakhesang Women Welfare Society honoured the day with the launching of ‘Eche’ Sanitary Pads and Diapers. The closing remark was given by Women Cell, PGC, Asu Chuzho. The programme was followed by sale and display of Chakhesang attires and products of Women Self Help Groups initiated by the Chakhesang Women Welfare Society.
