Wokha district celebrated International Women’s Day at Tiyi Hall, Wokha on 10th Match 2022. The event was organized by Wokha District Administration & DLCW-MSK under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) in collaboration with Sakhi-One Stop Centre.

ADC Wokha, T. Lankonsen Tsanglao said women contribute to a healthy and productive family and society. He said women are effective leaders and change-makers in all the sectors today, and a sense of equality should be instilled in girls beginning from home to eradicate gender inequality. He advocated for men and women to put their heads together and work in unity to bring about change and prosperity.

Tsanglao who is also the Administrator of Wokha Town Council (WTC) felicitated women employees working under WTC to encourage and acknowledge them for their good services rendered.

Sr. Supervisor, Social Welfare urged women working in different sectors to give their best so that they can also work at par with men counterparts.

Advocate, Shanchobeni P. Khuvung (WDLSA), highlighted the various schemes/projects and other rights of women introduced by the Government of India, she assured support from the Wokha District Legal Services Authority in assisting them in case of any difficulties faced while pursuing the schemes.

Asstt. Public Prosecution Officer, District Court Wokha, Renbemo Tungoe, said the special day is observed to celebrate women’s achievements and raise awareness against discrimination. He said guaranteeing the rights of women and giving them opportunities to reach their full potential is critical, not only for attaining gender equality but also for meeting a wide range of international development goals through women's intervention.

All the participants were gifted with First-Aid kits.
